It may be referred to as&nbsp;<strong><em>\u201cvirtual Dean\u2019s office\u201d<\/em><\/strong>, to which students and academics have access.&nbsp;The system has been designed to cut down on the bureaucracy and shorten queues at Dean\u2019s Offices by making some services online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through the USOSweb, you can, e.g.:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>register for<\/strong>\u00a0all<strong>\u00a0classes<\/strong>\u00a0listed for your study curriculum (USOS registration is being opened at the beginning of each semester, so sign up only for classes from a given semester);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>check\u00a0<\/strong>your<strong>\u00a0final grades<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>check\u00a0<\/strong>your<strong>\u00a0fee payment status<\/strong>, as you have access to the history of your payments and scholarships;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>send\u00a0<\/strong>an\u00a0<strong>e-mail\u00a0<\/strong>with USOSmail (it is not possible to check your mailbox, USOSmail is dedicated only for sending e-mails)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>evaluate\u00a0<\/strong>your<strong>\u00a0teachers\u00a0<\/strong>and<strong>\u00a0classes.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ugb-container ugb-container bs-news-page-under ugb-f8694ce ugb-container--v2 ugb-container--design-plain ugb-main-block\"><div class=\"ugb-inner-block\"><div class=\"ugb-block-content\"><div class=\"ugb-container__wrapper ugb-f8694ce-wrapper\"><div class=\"ugb-container__side\"><div class=\"ugb-container__content-wrapper ugb-f8694ce-content-wrapper\">\n<p>You will also be able to use other Web applications in the USOS system. Amongst others you will have access to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>APD<\/strong>\u00a0(Archive of Diploma Theses) which will assist you in the process prior to the diploma exam.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ankieter<\/strong>\u00a0(Survey) that allows you to fill out online surveys on a variety of topics for students, graduates and staff. By completing the survey you can express your opinions on a number of topics and at the same time have influence over decisions made at the Faculty and\/or at the University.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>USOSul<\/strong>\u00a0(Token registration) where you will be able to sign up for classes in physical education and foreign languages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To log in to your USOS for the first time you have to use your student number (written on student ID) and restore the password.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/usosweb.uwr.edu.pl\/kontroler.php?_action=news%2Fdefault&amp;lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>USOS<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Should you have any troubles using your university official mailbox, contact the University Study-Orientated Systems Section&nbsp;<\/strong>(pol.&nbsp;<em>Dzia\u0142 Informatycznych System\u00f3w Obs\u0142ugi Studi\u00f3w<\/em>, DISOS): usosweb@uwr.edu.pl<br>or contact the&nbsp;<strong>Faculty USOS administrator<\/strong>: Maria Skuza (maria.skuza@uwr.edu.pl).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Your University e-mail<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon enrollment, a university e-mail account is automatically created for each&nbsp;<strong>student&nbsp;<\/strong>in the form of&nbsp;<strong>student<\/strong><strong>IDnumber@uwr.edu.pl<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This e-mail address remains with the student throughout her\/his academic career at University of Wroclaw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The same&nbsp;<strong>password<\/strong>&nbsp;as for USOS is used for your university official mailbox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to log in to your mailbox, go to:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/login.microsoftonline.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/login.microsoftonline.com<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>USOS and your university mailbox are crucial during your studies<\/strong>, so it is essential for you to learn to use them as soon as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The format of&nbsp;<strong>UWr employees\u2019<\/strong>&nbsp;e-mail addresses is as follows:&nbsp;<strong>name.surname@uwr.edu.pl<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We, employees and students, are&nbsp;<strong>obliged<\/strong>&nbsp;by the Rector to<strong>&nbsp;use only university mailboxes&nbsp;for communication<\/strong>. That is why, don\u2019t be surprised while you will not get any reply to your e-mail sent to a teacher or Dean\u2019s Office staff from a private mailbox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Faculty of Biotechnology utilizes e-mail as one of the official means of communication with students<\/strong>&nbsp;to keep them informed of important information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The University has the right to send official communication to students by e-mail with the assumption that students will receive, read and, if necessary, act in a timely manner based upon these e-mails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students are expected to check their email on a frequent and consistent basis. Students must make sure that there is sufficient space in their accounts to allow for an e-mail to be delivered and have the responsibility to recognize that certain e-mails may be time sensitive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Email Etiquette<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Email is generally considered less formal than a letter, but it does not mean that you can be over-familiar or use slang when you\u2019re writing to lecturers, instructors or Dean\u2019s Office staff. You must remain respectful and professional at all times, even in this more informal medium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Always use your official university email address<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Put your recipient\u2019s email address in the \u201c<strong>To<\/strong>\u201d field. If there is someone else you think should see the email for their information, put their email in the \u201c<strong>CC<\/strong>\u201d (<em>Carbon Copy<\/em>) field. Do not use it unless there is a real need for this person to see the communication.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid marking the email as \u201cimportant\u201d or using \u201curgent\u201d word in subject line unless justified. Marking something as important\/urgent when it is not will only annoy the recipient, who has many other demands on his\/her time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lead with a clear\u00a0<strong>subject<\/strong>\u00a0line \u2013 write something descriptive, that summarises what the e-mail is about. If you are writing to a lecturer\/instructor, consider including course name.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use a\u00a0<strong>formal salutation<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 it is best to address your recipient by his or her title, such as Dear Professor, Dear Doctor or Dear Ms.\/Mr.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be clear, polite, and succinct in the main e-mail body.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sign off<\/strong>\u00a0your e-mail \u2013 if you have started your email in the formal style then it makes sense to finish it in this way (<em>Yours sincerely<\/em>). You also have a few different options for how you could sign off. These common conventions include:\u00a0<em>Best wishes, Kind regards, Best regards, All the best, Thank you, Thank you in advance.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Identifying yourself<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 staff and professors are often keeping track of hundreds of students, state who you are.
